In life, there are some essential skills (or self-help concepts) you need to master in order to master your life.

Some of these skills are personal, like for example painting, drawing, swimming, Etc.

But some of these skills (or concepts) are universal, like for example Discipline, Fear, Commitment, and Inner work.

Today, I’m going to cover some essential self-help concepts you need to master if you want to live the best life possible.

These concepts are in no particular order.

Discipline

Discipline. The skill of doing the hard work when you don’t feel like it. An essential Self-Help concept to master if you really want to do something with your life. In fact, this skill is the building block of everything you will ever accomplish and of the other Self-Help concepts i will cover here.

Whether that would be a personal success like being happy, or an external success like becoming rich, you will need discipline in order to accomplish it.

Well, can’t you just follow your emotions and do whatever fulfills you?

Yes and no.

If you want to live a fulfilling and happy life, you simply cannot follow your emotions.

The modern world has hijacked your emotions. And instead of your emotions telling you to do what you need to do. They tell you instead to indulge in porn, drugs, unhealthy food that gives you 50 kinds of cancer at once, and so on.

You cannot trust your emotions, you must trust your intuition.

Now, there is another side to this coin. On the one hand, you cannot trust your emotions, and you will become depressed if you do. On the other hand, Happiness and Fulfillment are emotions too.

So what are you supposed to do then?

Don’t listen to your emotions, listen to your intuition.

You know. The voice in your head you suppress when it tells you to do something with your life. Yeah, that intuition.

It is going to be fucking hard to master this skill, but once you do, you will be left with the life of your dreams.

Will-power

Will-power. The skill of abstaining from instant gratification.

Contrary to popular belief, Will-Power and discipline are 2 different skills.

Discipline is the skill of doing the hard work when you don’t feel like it.

And will power is the skill of abstaining from the easy stuff when you DO feel like it.

So, for example: Porn, junk food, Social media, Video games, Drugs, and the addictions of the modern world in general.

This skill is crucial if you don’t want to end up like the 500 pound guy at Walmart that cannot control his cravings and eats 653 grams of sugar a day, in addition to watching TV 13 hours a day.

You can level up your Will-Power skill by not indulging in unhealthy habits and addictions when you DO feel like it.

Commitment

There are going to be times when you’re going to feel like quitting.

In those times, the commitment you made to yourself will come and save you.

If you allow it, of course.

Committing to something is a big part of succeeding in the said thing.

Of course, you need to honor your commitment, and that’s going to be hard.

But if you do, then you’re going to be left with the fruits of the seeds you planted.

Fear, Courage and Resistance

Fear is THE Number 1 reason people fail in life.

If you want to master your life, you need to master your fear.

What is fear? Well, fear is the resistance you experience when you try something new, different, or risky.

So that’s basically everything you ever tried or will try.

The point is, you won’t escape fear, and you will have to learn how to identify your fear, deal with your fear, and ultimately, overcome your fear.

I cannot stress enough the importance of fear in your life, it’s literally THE reason 90% of people stay stuck in life.

If you want to master life, master your fears.

If you want to learn more about fear, and how to overcome it. I talk about fear in depth in my previous article.

Inner work

Inner work. The act of fully cleansing your mind, integrating suppressed parts of yourself, and healing your trauma.

Now, you’ve probably never heard of the concept of inner work and in my opinion. You’re missing out big time.

Inner work, also called shadow work or parts work, is a concept where you completely detoxify YOURSELF.

What do I mean by detoxify? Well, imagine yourself as a giant ball of light that’s going through the path that is life and spewing light everywhere. Inevitably, as you roll through this path we call life, there will be dirt, grime, and other shit you roll over.

Now what happens, when you roll over this stuff?

It sticks to your ball of light and blocks a ray of light from coming through.

Roll over enough of this dirt, and your ball of light will get so dirty only a few rays of light will be able to come through.

So what is this dirt we’re talking about?

Trauma, suppressed traits and emotions, unmet childhood needs, insecurities (that stem from trauma), Low self-esteem, etc. You get the point.

Now, you may be thinking that you don’t have any trauma and that you were loved as a child. And maybe you don’t have any MAJOR trauma, and perhaps you were even loved when you were a child.

But, there is an extremely low chance (near impossible) that you never lived through a traumatic event. For example, when that guy told you that your hair was ugly when you were 8 years old and now, 10 years later, you still have a subconscious insecurity about your hair.

That’s trauma, and that’s what inner work is about.

Getting rid of all the dirt, grime and other bullshit, cleaning your ball and letting it fully, and I mean FULLY, shine.

Just imagine that. Imagine healing every unmet childhood need, suppressed emotion, suppressed part of yourself. Every trauma, every insecurity, and fully integrating parts of yourself that you didn’t even know were there.

That’s inner work, and it will CHANGE your life and yourself.

Limiting Beliefs

In your life, you will inevitably come across beliefs that do not serve you.

Some of these beliefs will be conscious, some of them will be subconscious (meaning you aren’t aware of them).

These are, so called, Limiting Beliefs.

Some examples are:

  • Money is evil.

  • Sex is bad.

  • I’m not good enough.

  • I do not deserve love.

  • People will think X when i do Y.

  • I am stupid.

  • These Self-Help concepts aren’t that important.

Now, a big mistake some people make is they think they know everything they believe and that they would know if they had a limiting belief.

WRONG.

Every. Single. Person. Reading this has a limiting belief. Hell, Some of you have HUNDREDS of limiting beliefs.

So what’s the solution?

Being aware of them and replacing them with empowering ones.

How do you do that?

Through mindfulness.

Patience

Maybe you have heard something along the lines of: “nothing extraordinary comes quickly” or “you need to wait for extraordinary things”

Well, it’s true.

You’re not going to heal all of your childhood traumas and unmet needs in 3 months. Nor will you get rich and build a Greek god physique in 80 days.

This concept is the back-bone of all the other self-help concepts here.

You need to be PATIENT, if you want the truly extraordinary things that life has to offer.

You simply cannot build your dream life and achieve everything you’ve ever wanted in a matter of a year, and even multiple years.

That takes decades.

You need to be patient, otherwise you will quit.

Perseverance

Perseverance is the skill of persisting through obstacles and challenges, especially when they’re difficult.

Look, the path you’re going onto, whether that would be personal success, romantic success, or financial success, is going to be difficult.

You WILL, fail before you win.

That’s where perseverance comes in.

You require perseverance in order to succeed because if you don’t have perseverance you’re going to quit 13 days in.

You don’t want to be like the fat guy that says he’s going to lose 30 pounds by the end of the year, and then he actually gains 30 pounds instead, do you?

Furthermore, you need perseverance and patience if you want to succeed long term.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness, the skill of observing yourself and the world.

If I’m going to be honest to you. Even I don’t appreciate this trait enough.

The importance of mindfulness and meditation is so big I don’t know how to put it into words.

If you really want your life to level up, you need to increase your mindfulness by meditating.

Why increase your mindfulness, you may ask? Well, it’s because in order to live a good life, you need to be aware.

Aware of your emotions. Conscious of your deepest and darkest desires. Mindful of the things you like and the things you don’t.

You get the idea.

If you don’t possess the skill of mindfulness, you will never really know yourself and know what you really authentically want, and you will be stuck, Because you will be unable to observe yourself.

Start meditating right now, TODAY. If you want your life to change forever.

Purpose

Purpose is the concept of you being born to do something in your life.

YOUR PURPOSE IS THE REASON YOU WERE BORN.

All of the other Self-help concepts pale in comparison to this one.

If you don’t think this is important, then think again.

This is the most critical thing for your happiness and fulfillment EVER.

If you don’t know your purpose, you’re wasting your life.

Think about the everyday Joe.

He wakes up to commute to his job that’s kinda mid, to do something for 8 hours he does not enjoy. Then he must commute home again, while he is semi depressed because commuting is literally the most boring part of the day.

Then he comes home, and he does some activity he doesn’t really enjoy just to kill time and then goes to sleep.

In other words, he doesn’t live purposefully

Now think of the ultimate man (or a woman).

They wake up excited for the day because they already know they will be doing the activity they were born to do.

Whether that would be raising your children. Chilling on your farm all day and milking the sheep. Or perhaps, creating a multi billion dollar oil conglomorate.

Everyone has their own purpose including YOU

So go ahead and find your purpose right now.

Go just sit for 5 days straight with nothing and think about what you actually want to do in life and not just what society, friends, and family told you to do. (go to school get a job etc. etc.)

Purpose is the most important thing you can do for your fulfillment and chances are, it’s buried underneath all the trash in the form of external expectations, limiting beliefs, fear, and social conditioning.

So go dig it out, you won’t regret it.

Emotional Mastery

If you want to master yourself, and ultimately, your life. You absolutely NEED to master your emotions.

Without this, the other self-help concepts i’ve discussed here are completely useless because you just won’t do them.

Do not underestimate the importance of Emotional mastery.

Discipline is an act of Emotional Mastery, along with, Will-Power and Courage.

You must control your emotions or they will control YOU.

If you don’t master your emotions, you probably will end up Fat, Depressed, Unhealthy, Lonely and miserable.

Your emotions keep telling you to over-indulge, spread hate and anger, watch porn, and mindlessly scroll on Instagram, TikTok, and other social media.

You CAN’T allow that to happen, otherwise you will be miserable.

That’s why Emotional Mastery is so important.

Subconscious mind

Your subconscious mind is responsible for 95% of the results you get in life.

Yes, you read that right ,95%.

If you want to succeed and master life (and the other self-help concepts). You need to master your subconscious mind.

You need to learn how to leverage the superpower that is your subconscious mind to your advantage.

If you learn how to use your subconscious mind you will achieve everything you ever wanted in life. PERIOD.

So, how do you use your subconscious mind?

By reprogramming it to your advantage using tools like:

  1. Subliminals

  2. Affirmations

  3. Visualisation

  4. Meditation

  5. Identity shifting

Once you leverage these tools to your advantage. Results in your life won’t be the same again. (in a good way)

Summary

There are many things you need to master in order to master life.

These self-help concepts are one off the most important ones.

By far, the most important stuff to master is the Emotional stuff.

If you learn to control your emotions you will dominate life like no one else.

These are obviously not ALL of the concepts you need to master. There are many more i couldn’t cover because that would be too much for this article.

Some of these are health, relationships, business, karma, and so on.

Hope you enjoyed this article dear reader.
